Aki-Con Opening Ceremony Music Video
The opening music video for Aki-Con, was a personal favorite for me. The music choice, of Evanescence’ Missing, is a song I truly enjoy, but it was the way they music video was compiled that truly brought life to the song. The imagery matched very well with the song, and to whoever made it, I give my props to you.
Moving on from the opening video, Aki-Con guests were greeted to a small performance from staff members, and introduction to several of the guests who attended Aki-Con.

It is interesting to note that the Aki-Con ceremony didn’t actually occur until 5pm Friday Night, so most of my day up until the opening ceremony was spent wandering around taking pictures here and there.
I even visited the Artist Alley a few times, which ended up being a controversial topic for many of those who were selling their products there, however, I will leave that topic to later on in this article.
Saturday ended up with a lot more pictures taken, however, I attended the panel for my personal Cosplay Group, Yakumei. Yakumei put on a great panel for those who attended and stayed throughout the whole panel.
I was able to record the entire panel:

Throughout entire Aki-Con weekend, I took pictures with my friend and fellow photographer, Olivia. We captured over 500 pictures in total. I also captured quite a few videos from throughout the event, and while I can’t really share much about Aki-Con, I can share my videos, experience, and overall thoughts on Aki-Con.

Aki-Con General Thoughts…
In regard to the Artist Alley situation, I cannot take sides, nor do I know all of the details, but I do know that those at Artist Alley did not appreciate being placed into a cold, damp garage with a leaking ceiling all weekend long.
From my point of view, and mine alone, I do not think this is the fault of Aki-Con themselves, I strongly believe this is the fault of the Bellevue Hilton. The Bellevue Hilton should, for a Hilton, be an upstanding hotel for everyone, regardless of where it is, especially their own garage.
Several Artist Alley sellers later came with an illness of sorts and had their products ruined or hardware ruined due to the leaky ceiling, and possible mold that was growing inside the garage. It is because of all of this, that it seems Aki-Con may not even occur in 2013. I am personally hoping for some sort of resolution to the problems that occurred this year, and hopefully any other issues that occurred can be worked out.
Aki-Con Final Thoughts….
I enjoyed myself a lot throughout Aki-Con. I got to see a lot of familiar faces, meet new people, make new friends, and I took lots of pictures! As of Aki-Con, I have now worked as Press for four total conventions, both big and small. Aki-Con, while small, and a bit disorganized, was a great con to attend, I still hope for a 2013 Aki-Con.
