Model Name: Ninja
Q. What’s your name, and care to tell a bit about yourself
My Name is Tyler Hauschildt and I’m known by most as “ninja”. I got that nickname because I mostly cosplay as a ninja.
Q. I notice that you cosplay, how long have you been cosplaying?
I’ve been cosplaying for 2 years now.
Q. What got you into cosplay?
I’ve always loved wearing costumes since I was 3 years old. And always looked forward to Halloween because that was the only time I could dress up. But after attending a few conventions, I thought, I could really get into this. So after finding a few random things in my room, I put together a costume and wore it to PAX 11. Since then, I knew I was born to do this.
Q. Do you have any modeling experience?
Not really. I basically taught myself everything and it’s been working out well so far.
Q. How has cosplaying changed your life?
It’s changed my life in so many ways. It gave me a new hobby, I met so many wonderful people I now call family, and I feel I’ve gain some fame along the way.
Q. What are your plans for the future? Cosplay or Non-Cosplay.
I’ll probably expand my costumes, try different ninja types as well as non-ninja types, and improve the costumes I already have.
Q. What’s your favorite cosplay so far?
My favorite is definitely my full black ninja suit because it’s my main costume as well as one of my firsts. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for that costume. And I still use it to this day and always try to improve it.
Q. What do you think was your least favorite cosplay, if any?
I’m gonna say my first cosplay because it was just something I threw together. But I don’t hate it because it served as the building blocks for my style of cosplaying
Q. Do you have any plans to work with cosplay modeling or modeling websites?
Not at all, I’m all about just having fun cosplaying and taking pictures of costumes I like
Q. Do you have any future cosplay ideas?
They’re tons of cosplays I want to do but not any I’m gonna do anytime soon. My dream cosplay was always to be link from legend of Zelda, and I’m slowing making that dream a reality, but I know I still got a long road ahead to achieve it.
Q. How do you go about creating a cosplay?
I don’t make costumes from scratch because I was never good with crafting. I like to buy my costumes and improve them by adding little things that I think make it look better. I do get a lot of criticism from people for not making my cosplays but I don’t care what they think. I got many talents but creating costumes aint one of them.
Q. What materials do you use or recommend to others?
I can’t say because I don’t create
Q. Do you have any hints or tips for other cosplayers?
Go with what you love and don’t listen to anyone who says you can’t. Also always do your best to stay in character without being too obnoxious about it (unless your character is obnoxious). And it’s ok if you want to just buy or commission your costume because in the end. It’s all about having fun.
Thank you so much, Ninja for taking the time to join us in this weeks Cosplay Friday, and we hope that you’ll enjoy this, and other future Cosplay Friday segments!
